"Unveiling the Most Dangerous US Cities During the Holidays: Exclusive Insights from Security Firm Vivint"

In a groundbreaking study, security firm Vivint has identified the most hazardous cities for Americans during the holiday season. The analysis, which took into account property crime rates, Google Trends data, and statistics from the FBI's National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), revealed that St. Louis, Missouri, was the most dangerous city. Newark, Delaware, ranked second, followed by Salt Lake City, Utah, Denver, Colorado, and Seattle, Washington.

Vivint's report highlighted that while St. Louis, Salt Lake City, and Denver topped the list of riskiest cities for crime during the holiday season, each city presented unique security challenges. The study emphasized that it's crucial for individuals to be aware of these risks and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the festive period.

The top 10 cities for the highest number of crimes per 100,000 people are:

Tacoma, Washington
St. Louis, Missouri
Las Vegas, Nevada
Memphis, Tennessee
Spokane, Washington
Salt Lake City, Utah
Honolulu, Hawaii
Little Rock, Arkansas
Portland, Oregon
Las Cruces, New Mexico

Riverside, California ranked highest of any city for vehicle theft. This week, an initiative was recommended by a group of criminologists, law enforcement officials, and elected officials after a meeting at the Washington University School of Medicine campus that aims to reduce the homicide rate in St. Louis by 20 percent. The initiative involves giving people "involved in violence" a choice of using specialist programs including ones for addiction and other mental health problems, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The research method cited in the report used "Google Trends search data," "Airbnb listings available," and "Neighborhood Watches" for insights into community-based security measures. The study also included "city-level data on 2022 property crimes" and two surveys of 500 American homeowners and 150 people who had committed crimes respectively. The overall score was more heavily weighted to the use of Google Trends and Airbnb according to Vivint's explanation. "We weighted the Google Search Trends and Airbnb features at 30 percent," Vivint said. "NIBRS and vehicle theft data at 15 percent," and "neighborhood watches at 10 percent." The remaining 5 percent was from the surveys."
